PORTLAND RADIO SHOW UPDATE
On Monday, January 19 at 4:00 pm, I was interviewed by the Portland radio station (1270 am.) The ladies there really have their act together! Bonnie Fussell and Terri Webb (yes! they double-teamed me!) asked great questions about the many charity knitting/crochet projects that The Busy Needle supports, and we talked about the popularity of knitting and crochet, as well as the very positive impact that these needle arts have on children. Thank you for your gracious invitation to be your guest, ladies!
CHARITY KNITTING
One of the projects we're supporting this year is Blankets for Meharry. Sponsored by Knit and Crochet Tennessee, this group which is spearheaded by Lea Jane Burie has committed to provide 2500 blankets for Nashville General Hospital at Meharry.
The Busy Needle is a collection point for this ongoing blanket drive throughout 2009.
During the radio interview on Monday, I was quite thrilled when Terri Webb volunteered SunCrest Home Health, 814 S. Broadway, in Portland, as a second drop-off point for Blankets for Meharry! Thank you Terri! You rock!
If you have any further questions about this project or are looking for some basic baby blanket patterns, please visit www.knitandcrochetTN.com
Join us for our Charity Knitting Sit & Stitch on Tuesday mornings from 10:30 to noon! Bring your project and work along with the rest of us. No fee, but Jackie makes strong coffee and there will be tea available as well.
APRIL/MAY CLASS SCHEDULE NOW POSTED!
Here are the highlights of the new class offerings. To see the entire class schedule, click on the button at the left.
Patti's Crocheted Jacket is finished and on display at the shop. It's gorgeous! This class is now scheduled for Saturday, April 18, at 10:30 am. Cost of the class is $30; cost of materials depends on size, but is less than $50. I will post photos of Patti's jacket, along with photos of the instruction jacket, on The Busy Needle's blog on March 23rd. Watch for them!
Patti also teaches a beautiful Wide Crochet Scarf which may also be used as a shawl. The model is at the shop and Patti has indicated her willingness to teach this again on a Saturday in May or June if there is interest. Check it out at the shop and let us know!
Tatting 101 - We've had so many requests for this class! Saturday, May 23 at 1:00 pm. Cost $25. Materials fee: $10. There will be a small instruction book as well which is not included in the Materials Fee pricing as I have not yet received the invoice for them. Can't imagine it will be more than $10.
BOO! CLUB
Join us at our NEW every-other Friday afternoon BOO! CLUB Stitch-A-Long. We are working on Lizzie Kate's new Halloween Double-Flips and making them into a banner.
We have the fabrics available to do this on 14 ct Aida (Soft Mocha and Dirty), 28 ct. Dirty Cashel Linen, and 32 ct. Dirty Belfast Linen. Let us know which you'll need and we'll have the fabric cut and ready for you at your first Friday. Most have chosen to do this banner in DMC, but we also have the Weeks Dye Works and Gentle Art Sampler Threads in stock if you choose that option.
To have this project completed by October, we need to finish one double flip each month. Kim will have mats and frame choices available in September as we near our goal.
Fabric, floss and charts must be purchased at The Busy Needle to qualify for club membership. Special treats & stuff for club members. No fee. Lots of fun. Club meets every other Friday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 pm starting March 20. (Future dates are: April 3 & 17, May 1, 15 & 29, June 12 & 26, etc.)
